What Volvo Vehicles Made the Top Safety Pick Cut?
The vehicles topping out on Volvo's list are the S90, S90 Recharge electric SUV, and the V90 Cross Country. These three models were added after Volvo had already ranked 10 of its popular models as Top Safety Picks. Those models were the C40 Recharge, XC40 and XC40 Recharge, XC60 and XC60 Recharge, XC90 and XC90 Recharge, S60 sedan, V60 Cross Country, and the S60 Recharge plug-in hybrid sedan.
IIHS Ups the Ante
IIHS requires good or acceptable ratings in six crashworthiness tests - driver-side small overlap front; moderate overlap front; side; roof strength; and head restraints - as well as an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and a good headlight rating. IIHS also gave Volvo's top-rated models its new "Good" designation in the passenger-side small overlap front crash test.
