Fourth of July Celebration Ideas!


Haven't gotten your plans for the Fourth of July together yet? We have you covered. We've compiled a list of events happening in Baton Rouge and the surrounding South Louisiana area so that no matter where you are this weekend, you can rock your red, white and blue attire and have some fun celebrating our nation's birthday! Whether you are looking for something to do with the whole family or just trying to have fun with friends, one of these six events will be sure to meet your 4th of July needs.


July 3rd Fireworks Celebration

Where: Crescent Park, Donaldsonville, LA

When: July 3, 3015 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm

The annual July 3rd Fireworks celebration will feature live music by the locally-based Avenue Cruisers and the Allison Collins Band, overlooking the Mississippi River.

3rd of July Celebration in City Park

Where: New Orleans City Park  

When: July 3, 3015 at 7:15 pm

Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy patriotic music with The Marine Corps Band on the Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn and fireworks from the Peristyle at 9 pm. Concessions, snoballs, wine and beer will be available for purchase, or you can bring your own picnic.

Uncle Sam's Jam

Where: Parc International, Downtown Lafayette

When: July 4, 2015 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Uncle Sam's Jam is a free event featuring live music, kid's activities and a massive fireworks display.

4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza

Where: L'Auberge Casino Baton Rouge

When: July 4, 2015 at 9:30 pm

L'Auberge and Eagle 98.1’s Fireworks Extravaganza on the Mississippi River will feature various viewing parties in conjunction with its fireworks show. The Lawn Viewing party is free and open to the public. The party will be from 7 pm to 10 pm and will feature a food truck roundup and beer available for purchase. Music will be provided by Eagle 98.1. Lawn chairs and blankets are allowed. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 pm.

Go 4th on the River

Where: Downtown New Orleans

When: July 4, 2015 at 9:00 pm

This event will feature a fireworks display from two barges over the Mighty Mississippi River (between Nichols St. Wharf and the Canal St. Dock) and can be seen from both banks of the river. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the event, The Port of New Orleans will bring out the General Roy S. Kelley fireboat to make an appearance along the river with its famed water show with plumes of red, white and blue fountains beginning at 6:00 pm.

 USS Kidd's July 4th Spectacular! and WBRZ Fireworks on the Mississippi

Where: Downtown Baton Rouge,

When: July 4, 2015 9:00 am to 10:00 pm

Enjoy delicious food and ice cold drinks with a variety of musical performances and fireworks display. Activities include appearances from our Mayor-President "Kip" Holden, Big River Express, Rosie and the Swingin' Riveters, Miss USA Contestants, Quiana Lynell and the Lush Life and Werewolf performing at the downtown Levee Stage. There will also be plenty of activities for the kids including paper boat races and face painting.
